Barbara Ehrenreich wrote Bright-Sided, along with sixteen other books including Nickel and Dimed. She previously worked as a columnist at The New York Times and Time magazine. She was born in Butte, Montana in 1941 and attended Reed College in Portland, Oregon, and Rockefeller University. She studied extensively in the sciences, received a PhD in Cell Biology, and became involved in the women's health movement in the 1970's. Eventually, Ehrenreich became a writer, writing for publications such as Mother Jones and Ms. She devoted her life to being a writer after giving up her teaching job at the State University in NY. I relate to many of her views of feminism, populism, and intellectualism.
